Qld: Man cuts his way into a girl's bedroom

A man has cut his way through an insect screen to get into the bedroom of a young girl
at Diddillibah on the Sunshine Coast hinterland north of Brisbane today.

The girl's screams frightened the man away and he fled as her parents rushed to her assistance.

Police say the man cut through the screen on the girl's bedroom window at the home
of her parents in Diddillibah Road just after 4am (AEST) today.

They say the girl started screaming after she was awoken by the man entering the room
and he then tried to silence her by putting his hand over her mouth.

He fled when the girl's screams awoke and alerted her parents, who raced to her room.

The girl was unharmed apart from some scratches received in the incident.

Police say they're looking for a man described as 168-centimetres tall, of slim build
with short hair.
